SHOCKWAVE THERAPY
Seary Physiotherapy is delighted to announce that we now offer SHOCKWAVE THERAPY to our patients.
Struggling with stubborn pain or a sports injury? Shockwave therapy helps speed up recovery and get you moving again.
WHAT IS SHOCKWAVE THERAPY?
Shockwave Therapy is a localised treatment with a small head (similar to ULTRASOUND) but has a small “Hammer Like” movement and sound. It provides high energy but at a low frequency (which is very different to Ultrasound).
In Research, this has been deemed to be very beneficial for Chronic Soft tissue injuries and is recommended by NICE (National Institute of Clinical Excellence).
Click the link below to learn more about Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy.
How long is the treatment?
The actual treatment, depending on the area, etc, is between 10-20 minutes but is always part of a treatment regime, soft tissue massage etc, and appropriate rehabilitation.
It is not a stand-alone treatment.
Treatment can be painful, but we work within your pain limitations.
Shockwave Therapy works by stimulating the damaged tissue to repair, which is why associated rehab is so important; it also has a short-term analgesic effect.
How many Treatment Sessions?
The guidance is between 4 – 6 treatments initially on a weekly basis to
provide the optimum response.
What does Shockwave Therapy Treat?
Those chronic, soft tissue injuries that are stubborn!
Tennis Elbow, Golfer’s Elbow, Rotator Cuff in the Shoulder, Achilles Tendon, Patella Tendon, Glute Tendons, etc…
